PIKE COUNTY, Ind. — Amanda Wertman and her 8-year-old daughter, Michaela, were killed in a tragic vehicle crash Saturday evening at the intersection of State Road 64 and County Road 1000 East in Pike County, leaving their family and community facing an unimaginable loss.
The family identified Amanda and Michaela as the two people who died in the collision. Authorities have not yet officially released their names.
Michaela, 8, was among a group returning to Pike County following a Girl Scout trip to Holiday World when the crash occurred. Four other juveniles were critically injured in the collision, including another 8-year-old girl, Oaklie, whose family has since provided updates about her condition.
