McKayla Yvonne Foust Obituary, Watford City, ND: Beloved 29-Year-Old Woman Killed in Tragic Accident
The community of Watford City, North Dakota, is mourning the death of McKayla Yvonne Foust, who passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2026, at the age of 29 following a tragic accident during a vacation in Cancun. Born McKayla Yvonne Mourer on March 12, 1997, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, she was remembered for the warmth, love and adventurous spirit she brought to those around her.
McKayla shared her final vacation with her husband, Derek Foust, before the accident claimed her life. She had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, photography, attending events and simply spending time with people she loved. Her family remembered the experiences she created with others as some of the moments that made her life meaningful.
Her bond with her sister Cassidy Mourer was especially cherished. The sisters shared annual summer-fair outings and long car rides with friends, creating traditions that Cassidy and the family will carry forward. McKayla is survived by Derek, her mother Katherine Mourer, father Rex Mourer, sister Cassidy and Camben Mourer. She was preceded in death by her older brother, Jesse Slade Mourer.
A memorial service was held September 4, 2026, at Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home Chapel in Watford City. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to the Family Crisis Shelter in Williston. McKayla’s death has left her loved ones grieving a life that ended far too soon, while her laughter, family traditions, friendships and love of the outdoors remain part of the memories she leaves behind.
