The Garland community is mourning the tragic loss of 33-year-old Lisa Maldonado, who died following a devastating early-morning crash on Interstate 30 in Mesquite, Texas.
According to the Mesquite Police Department, officers were called to the scene at approximately 3:16 a.m. on September 4 after a serious collision occurred on the transition ramp from westbound Interstate 30 to northbound Interstate 635.
Police said Maldonado was driving a Chevrolet Equinox when her vehicle collided with a Freightliner semi-truck. The truck was being driven by 39-year-old Khasan Begbaev of Brooklyn, New York, and was towing a 53-foot trailer at the time of the crash.
The collision resulted in fatal injuries to Maldonado. Her sudden passing has left family, friends and members of the wider Garland community grieving a life lost far too soon.
