SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania — Authorities in Somerset County are investigating a fatal heavy equipment accident that claimed the life of 47-year-old Melvin Yoder. As reported by regional news outlets in Somerset County, the incident occurred on private property along Mountain Road in rural Summit Township near Meyersdale.
Accident Investigation on Private Property
According to official investigation bulletins from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, Mr. Yoder was operating a bulldozer alone on the property when the vehicle overturned or malfunctioned under undisclosed circumstances. Emergency first responders, local fire personnel, and emergency medical services arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the dispatch call.
