GREEN BAY, Wis. — A shooting on Green Bay’s east side left one person seriously injured Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, as police launched an investigation and searched for two people believed to have fled the scene.
Green Bay police said officers were called to the 1000 block of North Irwin Avenue shortly after noon following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located a person suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities said the injuries were considered serious.
Two Suspects Reportedly Fled
Investigators said two suspects left the area in a vehicle following the shooting.
At the time of the initial investigation, police had not released descriptions of the suspects or the vehicle they were believed to be traveling in. Their identities also had not been publicly disclosed.
Police established a crime scene around the area and detectives began gathering evidence and speaking with potential witnesses.
Large Police Presence on Irwin Avenue
The shooting prompted a significant law-enforcement response around North Irwin and Eastman streets.
A local news crew reported seeing crime-scene tape around the area near a liquor store, while Green Bay police crime-scene personnel were observed processing the location. Authorities had not indicated that the liquor store itself was involved in the shooting.
Investigators were working to determine what happened before the gunfire and why the shooting occurred.
Motive Remains Unclear
Police have not publicly released a motive for the shooting.
It was also not immediately clear whether the victim was specifically targeted or whether the shooting resulted from another type of confrontation. Those details remain part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are expected to review physical evidence and any available surveillance footage while attempting to identify the two people who reportedly left the area.
