According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Mason was aboard a pontoon boat with his wife and friends near Sand Island when he fell overboard. Officials said he suffered severe bodily injuries during the incident.
Emergency responders quickly rushed to provide life-saving efforts while on the water before transporting Mason to the Watts Bar Dam boat ramp. Despite those efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Wildlife officials reported that Mason was not wearing a life jacket at the time he fell into the water. Following the tragedy, his body was transported to the Meigs County Medical Examiner’s Office.
