Dylan Wayland Accident: 19-Year-Old Tree-Trimming Worker Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle in Atlanta
A heartbreaking workplace-related roadway incident has claimed the life of 19-year-old Wayland, leaving family, friends, and coworkers mourning the loss of a young worker whose life ended far too soon.
According to police, officers responded to the intersection of LaVista Road and North Druid Hills Road after Wayland was struck by a vehicle while working as part of a tree-trimming crew.
Authorities said Wayland was reportedly placing flags along the roadway for construction-related work when a van driver left the roadway, crossed the curb, and struck him.
Wayland was wearing a safety vest at the time of the incident. A damaged van was discovered near a tree-trimming service truck at the scene as emergency crews responded.
Georgia Power confirmed that Wayland was employed by its contractor, Asplundh, and that crews were conducting tree-trimming operations in the area.
The young worker’s death has brought sadness to those who knew him and those who worked alongside him. At just 19 years old, Wayland had a future ahead of him filled with possibilities, dreams, and opportunities that will now remain unfinished.
The driver stayed at the scene following the crash. Police have not announced whether any charges will be filed as the investigation continues.
