Douglas Emge Obituary-Plane Accident: Douglas Emge, 62, Killed in Small Plane Crash in DeKalb County, Alabama
With heavy hearts, we remember Douglas Emge, 62, of Whitton, Alabama, who tragically lost his life Tuesday morning after the small aircraft he was piloting crashed in DeKalb County.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 6:50 a.m. near County Road 3, behind the Whitton water tank near Albertville. Emge was operating a single-engine Van’s RV-4 aircraft when the plane went down.
Officials confirmed that Emge was the only person aboard the aircraft at the time of the crash. He suffered fatal injuries, and no other victims were reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Investigators are continuing to examine the aircraft, flight details, and other factors that may have contributed to the incident.
