The Delaware community continues to remember James S. “Jim” Ogden, whose passing left family members, friends, and many who knew him mourning the loss of a beloved member of their community.
James Ogden, of Newark, Delaware, passed away suddenly on August 6, 2023, at the age of 64, according to his published obituary. Born in Elkton, Maryland, on July 17, 1959, he was remembered as a devoted family man, friend, and active member of his community.
Jim spent much of his professional life working as a boilermaker with Local 13 before retiring. Beyond his career, however, his greatest connections were found through his family, friendships, and involvement in the community.
He was a very active member of the Minquadale Fire Company, where he also served as a dedicated fire police officer and was recognized as an honorary member of the Ladies Auxiliary. His involvement reflected a willingness to give his time and support to the people and organizations around him.
Away from his community service, Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors. Fishing and camping were among his favorite pastimes, including visits to Homestead Campground, a place where he created memories with those close to him.
Above all, his family remained at the center of his life. Jim is survived by his wife, June; his daughters Jamie, Jen, Kim, and Katie; as well as his grandchildren, sister, and extended family. He also leaves behind many friends who shared important moments of his life.
For those who knew him, his sudden passing represented the loss of someone whose life was defined by family, friendship, community involvement, and simple moments spent enjoying the outdoors.
As loved ones continue to remember Jim, his legacy can be found in the people he cared for, the community organizations he supported, and the memories created throughout his life.
