Milledgeville Shooting: Man Critically Injured at CC Food Mart; Suspect Arrested on Multiple Charges
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia — A man remains in critical condition after being shot late Monday night at a convenience store in Milledgeville, prompting a major police investigation and the arrest of a 20-year-old man accused of carrying out the shooting.
The Milledgeville Police Department said officers were dispatched at approximately 11:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, following reports of shots fired at CC Food Mart, located at 1212 North Jefferson Street.
Officers arrived in less than a minute and discovered a male victim lying in the parking lot beside a vehicle. He had suffered a gunshot wound.
Officers Immediately Provided Medical Aid
Police officers began providing emergency medical assistance to the victim before personnel from the Milledgeville Fire Department and EMS arrived.
The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital in Macon for further treatment. According to police, he remains in critical condition.
Authorities have not publicly released the victim’s identity or provided additional information about his injuries.
Detectives Quickly Identify Suspect
Following the shooting, detectives with the Milledgeville Police Department responded to the scene and began gathering evidence and interviewing people as part of the investigation.
Police said their investigative efforts led them to identify Daquavious Omarion Napier, born March 17, 2006, as the person suspected of shooting the victim.
Napier was located several hours later and taken into custody without incident at approximately 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The arrest came roughly six hours after officers were initially dispatched to the reported shooting.

According to the Milledgeville Police Department, Napier is currently facing several serious charges:
Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder
Five counts of Aggravated Assault
Participation in Street Gang Activity
Terroristic Threats
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
The charges indicate that investigators believe the incident involved conduct beyond the shooting of the identified victim. However, police have not yet publicly released a detailed account explaining the circumstances behind each individual charge.
The allegation that the case involved multiple aggravated assaults also suggests investigators are examining whether other people were placed in danger during the incident.
