PARIS, France —** Rumors circulating online about the alleged death of French television presenter **Damien Thévenot** appear to be false. Recent reports confirm that Thévenot is alive and preparing to return to French television as the host of *Mot de passe* on France 3.
France Télévisions has officially announced that *Mot de passe* will return on **Monday, October 26, 2026**, with Damien Thévenot taking over as presenter. The program will air Monday through Friday at **5:20 p.m. on France 3 and france.tv**.
### Damien Thévenot Is Alive
There is no credible evidence supporting reports that Damien Thévenot has died. On the contrary, current television reports document his upcoming return to the screen.
The announcement comes after Thévenot’s departure from *Télématin* earlier this year. His exit from the long-running France 2 morning program appears to have caused confusion among some viewers who were no longer seeing him regularly on television.
His upcoming role on *Mot de passe* makes clear that his absence from *Télématin* was a professional transition rather than a death or disappearance.
### Returning to *Mot de passe*
Thévenot will succeed **Camille Cerf** as presenter of *Mot de passe*. The program is moving from France 2 to France 3 and returning in a longer daily format.
The new version will feature two contestants competing alongside two celebrity partners, with as much as **€2,000** available to win each day. The winner will have the opportunity to return the following day and defend the title.
The first episode of the new version is scheduled for **October 26 at 5:20 p.m.**
### A New Chapter After *Télématin*
Thévenot spent many years associated with *Télématin*, having joined France 2 in the late 1990s and becoming one of the familiar faces of the program.
His departure from the morning show in July 2026 marked the end of a lengthy chapter in his television career. However, France Télévisions subsequently confirmed that he would remain part of the network’s television lineup.
Now, his return to *Mot de passe* gives viewers an opportunity to see him in a different role.
### Why the Death Rumors Are Misleading
Celebrity death rumors can spread quickly on social media, particularly when a familiar television personality suddenly disappears from a program they have presented for many years.
In Thévenot’s case, his departure from *Télématin* may have contributed to online speculation. However, the latest information from France Télévisions and French television media points in the opposite direction: Thévenot is actively preparing for a new television project.
France Télévisions itself lists him as the presenter of the returning *Mot de passe*.
### When Will Damien Thévenot Return?
Damien Thévenot is scheduled to return to television on **Monday, October 26, 2026**, when the new daily edition of *Mot de passe* premieres on France 3 at **5:20 p.m.**
For viewers who may have encountered posts claiming that the presenter has died, the latest available information provides a clear update: **Damien Thévenot is alive and preparing to return to television.**
