Officers with the Mobile Police Department and emergency medical teams responded to the first fatal incident at approximately 9:08 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, on Moffett Road near Western Drive. Investigators reported that a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Adrian Portlock veered off the roadway and collided with a tree. Portlock sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene, while a male passenger was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. On Saturday night, October 10, a second fatal crash occurred near the Interstate 10 exit ramp and Highway 90 South. According to police reports, 45-year-old Jayan Patel had exited his vehicle to assist the driver of an overturned vehicle when an oncoming motorist struck him and two stopped cars. Patel was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to life-threatening injuries.
