Academic Pursuits, Athletic History, and Community Engagement
Born on November 3, 2002, in Akron, Ohio, Nick Young was a 2021 graduate of Wadsworth High School, where he competed for four years in the school’s soccer program and track and field. He subsequently attended Baldwin Wallace University, competing in collegiate athletics while completing dual Bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Business Administration. Young went on to work as a Surety Associate at Westfield Insurance in Medina County. In addition to serving as a guest speaker at the Race to Cure Sarcoma in June 2026, local organizers in Wadsworth announced that the upcoming community Wod-A-Thon scheduled for October 24, 2026, will proceed as a tribute to Young, with proceeds from “#TeamNick” shirt sales dedicated to funding a permanent community memorial bench in his honor.
Medical History, Family Survivors, and Vital Statistics
Young passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital at age 23 following a severe progression of DSRCT sarcoma. Vital statistics registrations were officially recorded under the jurisdiction of the Cuyahoga County Probate Court and the Ohio Department of Health. Young is survived by his parents, William “Matt” and Denise (Bosela) Young; his brother, Matthew Young; his girlfriend, Gillian Ryser; his grandparents, Paul and Angela Bosela, and Kendra Hughes (Ed); as well as extended relatives and colleagues.
Funeral Mass and Memorial Service Schedule
Public visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Auble-Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home (174 N. Lyman Street, Wadsworth, OH). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Prince of Peace Parish (1263 Shannon Avenue, Barberton, OH), with Father Robert Jackson officiating. Formal interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the Cleveland Clinic Sarcoma Research Program.
