Head-On Collision on State Highway 207
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) highway patrol troopers, Armstrong County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and local emergency medical service personnel responded to reports of a severe motor vehicle accident on State Highway 207 near Claude at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. According to preliminary state police reports, a southbound 2010s Dodge Ram 1500 operated by 40-year-old Sergio Hernandez of Amarillo was traveling at an unsafe speed for wet roadway conditions when the truck hydroplaned, crossed the center line into northbound traffic, and collided head-on with a Hyundai Elantra carrying Villalobos and Palomares. First responders arrived on scene to administer aid, but both occupants of the Hyundai succumbed to fatal injuries sustained in the impact and were pronounced deceased at the location.
