THE MURDER OF KCOREE WARREN
Ferguson, Missouri — July 8, 2025
Kcoree Warren was a 44-year-old father who learned that his 15-year-old daughter had allegedly been sexually assaulted by a grown man. He did what a parent was supposed to do. He went to the police, reported what happened, and pursued criminal charges against the man accused of violating his child.
Then someone allegedly came to his home offering him $12,000 to make the case disappear.
Kcoree refused.
Less than two months later, he was shot to death inside his own home while his children were present.
And prosecutors say the people behind his murder were relatives of the very man he had reported to police.
The events began in March 2025, when investigators say 39-year-old Lavor Harmon approached Warren’s 15-year-old daughter as she was walking home from her school bus.
According to allegations, Harmon picked the teenager up, took her shopping, and subsequently sexually assaulted her.
On May 19, 2025, Kcoree reported the alleged assault to the Ferguson Police Department. The investigation resulted in four statutory felony charges against Harmon.
But just ten days later, on May 29, another member of Harmon’s family allegedly attempted to interfere with the prosecution.
Investigators say Lavonda Harmon, Lavor’s sister, went to Kcoree’s home on Bayview Drive and offered him $12,000 in cash to drop the case against her brother.
Kcoree refused the offer.
He was determined to pursue justice for his daughter.
Then came July 8, 2025.
Gunfire erupted at Warren’s residence in Ferguson. According to prosecutors, a gunman approached the home and fired through its glass front door while at least one of Kcoree’s children was inside.
Kcoree Warren was shot and killed.
Investigators later identified the suspected shooter as Andrew Klaus, whom prosecutors alleged had been recruited to silence Warren before he could testify in the sexual assault case.
But Klaus would not survive the day either.
Hours after Warren’s murder, Klaus was discovered shot to death in St. Louis, near a burned white Kia.
Authorities believed the vehicle was connected to Warren’s killing and had been set on fire to destroy evidence.
What investigators initially faced as two separate homicide scenes eventually developed into allegations of a coordinated murder conspiracy.
In late October 2025, a St. Louis County grand jury indicted three men in connection with both deaths.
Lavor Harmon, the man originally accused of sexually assaulting Kcoree’s daughter, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, arson, evidence tampering, and statutory sexual offenses.
Anthony L. Young, Harmon’s uncle, and Anthony D. Young, Anthony L.’s son, were also charged with two counts of first-degree murder and additional offenses involving armed criminal action, arson, and evidence tampering.
The two Young men were already in federal custody on unrelated charges when the indictments were announced.
All three defendants were reported to be held under $2 million bonds in connection with the murder case.
Lavonda Harmon was separately charged with tampering with a witness in a felony prosecution over the alleged attempt to pay Warren $12,000 to abandon the case.
The murder charges remain allegations unless and until proven in court.
Prosecutors contend that Kcoree’s killing was directly connected to his refusal to remain silent about the alleged sexual assault of his daughter.
They further allege that the man recruited to kill him was subsequently murdered as part of the same conspiracy.
The investigation involved local law enforcement, the FBI, and federal authorities.
For Kcoree’s family, the circumstances were devastating.
A father reported an alleged crime against his child. He was offered money to stop pursuing the case. He refused.
Then someone came to his home and opened fire, leaving his children to live with the consequences of losing their father.
Kcoree Warren was trying to protect his daughter. Prosecutors say the people accused of harming her wanted him silenced.
He was 44 years old.
His daughter had already endured an alleged sexual assault. Now she had lost the father who had stood up for her.
And the criminal proceedings that followed exposed allegations of a conspiracy involving intimidation, two murders, and an attempt to destroy evidence.
Kcoree did not accept the $12,000.
He continued pursuing the case.
And on July 8, 2025, he was killed inside the home where his children should have been safe.
