A Columbus man was killed in an early morning shooting inside a Phenix City hotel room, leading to a homicide investigation and multiple arrests, according to police.
Officers responded during the early hours of Monday, May 11, 2026, to the Colonial Inn, located at 905 Highway 280 East Bypass, after receiving reports of a shooting inside a hotel room.
When officers arrived, they discovered 36-year-old Harvey Lee Walker Jr. of Columbus, Georgia, suffering from a gunshot wound. Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. confirmed Walker was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 2:00 a.m.
The Phenix City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division launched an investigation and determined the shooting occurred inside one of the hotel rooms.
Following further investigation, authorities identified several suspects. Tionne Carreker was arrested without incident by the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia and charged with Capital Murder. She is expected to be extradited to Alabama.
A second individual, LaVincent Harris, was also arrested and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Possession of Marijuana First Degree.
Investigators say Tisha Gibson remains wanted on an outstanding Capital Murder warrant, and law enforcement agencies are actively working to locate her.
