A tragic early morning crash in Wayne County claimed the life of a young Kentucky man after a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer Monday, according to West Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. along U.S. Route 52 in the Fort Gay area. Troopers said the driver of a passenger vehicle, later identified as 21-year-old Braden Murry of Louisa, Kentucky, was traveling on the highway when his vehicle crossed the center line and entered the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.

Authorities reported that the two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in a devastating impact. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Murry suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash, according to police. No other injuries were reported.

At this time, officials have not released additional information regarding what may have caused Murry’s vehicle to cross into the opposite lane. Investigators are continuing to examine the scene and gather evidence to determine the factors that contributed to the deadly collision.
