RICHMOND, Va. — Police are investigating a shooting that left an adult woman injured after officers were called to the 1300 block of St. John Street at approximately 5:46 p.m.
Officers responded following a report of a shooting and found an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Authorities said her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
As investigators worked to determine where the shooting occurred, the investigation led officers to the 00 block of West Charity Street, which police identified as the location where the gunfire took place.
Detectives are now working to establish what happened before the shooting and identify the person responsible. Investigators are expected to speak with witnesses and examine available evidence from the scene as they attempt to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police have not released information about a possible suspect, motive or whether anyone has been taken into custody.
