HARRISONBURG, Va. — Harrisonburg police responded to a reported gunshot wound in the 1200 block of Devon Lane late Saturday night, August 29, with one person seriously injured and transported for medical treatment.
According to information released by the Harrisonburg Police Department, officers were called to the area at approximately 11:05 p.m. after a report of a gunshot wound. A single victim was found in serious condition.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Sentara RMH before being flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center for further treatment. By early Sunday morning, police said the victim was in stable condition.
Devon Lane Shooting Today
Police initially asked residents and motorists to avoid Devon Lane while officers remained at the scene and investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
At approximately 12:25 a.m., officers were still working at the location and expected to remain there for an extended period as investigators gathered information.
Authorities said there was no active threat to the community.
By 1:50 a.m., police reported that the scene had been cleared and traffic on Devon Lane could resume normally.
