Lewis C. Holmes Car Accident: Clanton Community Mourns Lewis C. Holmes After Fatal Shelby County Crash
The Clanton, Alabama, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lewis C. Holmes, 83, whose life came to a tragic end following a traffic crash in Shelby County Friday afternoon.
According to authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 280 and Alabama 76, about one mile west of Childersburg.
Holmes was driving a Toyota Highlander when his vehicle was struck by a Lincoln Navigator driven by 59-year-old Sidney Tankersley of Sylacauga.
Following the collision, Holmes was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center for treatment. Despite medical efforts, he later passed away from injuries sustained in the crash.
Tankersley was also injured and was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for further care. Authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Beyond the details of the accident was the life of an 83-year-old man who had spent more than eight decades creating memories, building relationships, and touching the lives of those around him.
