Lyle H. Mineer III Obituary – Motorcycle Accident: Lyle H. Mineer III, 36, Dies After Motorcycle Crash on State Route 397
The Kennewick community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lyle H. Mineer III, 36, of Kennewick, who died Saturday night following a tragic motorcycle crash on State Route 397.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:21 p.m. on September 12, 2026, near S397 Perkins Road at State Route 397 Milepost 14, about three miles east of the Kennewick city limits.
According to authorities, a northbound 2000 Isuzu Trooper, driven by 29-year-old Jackie L. Thacker of Kennewick, attempted to make a left turn but failed to yield the right of way. The vehicle collided with Mineer’s southbound 2011 Victory Cross motorcycle.
Mineer was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, 22-year-old Laurana R. Hechinger-Vantine, was injured and transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities said both motorcycle occupants were wearing USDOT-compliant helmets at the time of the crash. Thacker and her passenger, 36-year-old Correy D. Tallman, were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
Officials reported that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the collision. Both vehicles sustained total damage, and Thacker was cited following the crash.
