The Midland community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 21-year-old Luke Quentin Palacios, who tragically lost his life following a motorcycle collision Wednesday morning at the intersection of Raymond Street and Cedar Springs.
According to the Midland Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:42 a.m. on May 13, 2026, to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. When emergency crews arrived, they located Palacios near a 2023 Yamaha YZ250FX dirt bike in the intersection suffering from life-threatening injuries. A 2006 Nissan Murano with heavy damage to its passenger side was also found just west of the scene.
Palacios was immediately transported to Midland Memorial Hospital, where despite all medical efforts to save him, he later passed away from his injuries. Officials confirmed that next of kin has been notified.
Preliminary information from investigators indicates that Palacios was traveling southbound on Raymond Street at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred. Police say the Nissan Murano was traveling westbound on Howard Street, stopped at a posted stop sign, and proceeded through the intersection before the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to fully understand the circumstances.
Beyond the details of the crash, loved ones are now left grieving a young man remembered for his bright spirit, kind heart, and the love he showed to those around him. Friends and family describe Palacios as someone who could light up a room with his energy and leave a lasting impression on everyone he met.
His passing has left a deep void in the lives of those who cared for him most. As the community comes together in sorrow, many are holding onto memories, prayers, and the love he shared during his 21 years of life—gone far too soon but never forgotten.
