LAS VEGAS, Nevada — October 16, 2026 — Two drivers were critically injured in a wrong-way, head-on collision on West Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas on Thursday morning, October 15. The crash involved multiple vehicles and damaged several cars at a nearby dealership, according to local reports citing the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The collision occurred at approximately 11:27 a.m., east of South Tenaya Way. Police said a 2022 Honda CR-V was traveling eastbound in lanes designated for westbound traffic at a high rate of speed when it collided with a westbound 2025 BMW iX.
Both the Honda and BMW drivers suffered critical injuries and were transported to University Medical Center’s trauma unit for treatment. Reports available on October 16 did not confirm whether their conditions had changed.
Police identified the Honda driver as 58-year-old Corazon Blackwell. According to reports citing authorities, Blackwell was booked in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center on reckless-driving-related charges. The case remains subject to the legal process, and the reported charges are not a final determination of guilt.
The collision sent debris across the roadway, affecting other vehicles traveling behind the BMW. Police said a 2015 Hyundai Elantra and a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GL300 were struck by debris. Neither vehicle’s driver was injured.
Five vehicles at a nearby car dealership were also reportedly damaged by flying debris, adding to the disruption caused by the crash.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Authorities said the Honda veered to the right after the intersection before striking the BMW, but the reason for that movement had not been established in the reports available. Police also conducted an impaired-driving investigation; the available reporting does not establish that impairment caused the crash.
The collision prompted road closures and traffic delays while emergency crews assisted the injured drivers and investigators examined the scene. Motorists were advised to avoid the area during the response.
Further information about the drivers’ medical conditions and the cause of the crash may be released as the investigation continues.
