The Clarksville Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred early Monday morning at the Trenton Village apartment complex on Trenton Road.
According to officials, officers were dispatched to Trenton Village, located at 2740 Trenton Road, at approximately 1:40 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting that had already taken place before police arrived.
Preliminary findings from investigators indicate that a homeowner confronted a man who had allegedly broken into her residence. During the encounter, the homeowner reportedly fired multiple shots, striking the suspect several times.
Emergency responders provided immediate medical aid at the scene before the injured man was airlifted by AirEvac to a hospital in Nashville for advanced treatment. Authorities stated that his current condition has not yet been released.
Police say all parties involved in the incident are cooperating with detectives, and investigators currently believe there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding community.
Detectives spent several hours processing the scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses as part of the continuing investigation. Additional details surrounding the circumstances of the break-in and shooting have not yet been made public.
