According to the Houston Police Department, officers were dispatched to the shopping center after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire in the area. When police arrived, they discovered a man suffering from critical gunshot wounds near one of the businesses inside the strip center.

Paramedics responded quickly and attempted emergency treatment before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, officials say the victim later died from his injuries.

Investigators believe the suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting, sparking an ongoing search across the Houston area. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby storefronts, interviewing witnesses, and examining physical evidence collected from the scene.

Police have not yet publicly identified the victim, pending notification of relatives, and authorities have not confirmed what triggered the shooting. However, investigators say preliminary evidence suggests there may have been some form of confrontation before gunfire erupted.

The incident caused a heavy police presence around the shopping plaza for several hours Wednesday morning as crime scene investigators blocked off portions of the area to gather evidence and document the scene.

To help generate leads, Crime Stoppers of Houston announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest or charges in the case.

Authorities are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity, captured video footage, or has knowledge about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.

The homicide investigation remains ongoing.
