Authorities confirmed that Daniels was discovered after a 911 call reported a trooper had been shot on Callaway County Road 395, east of U.S. Highway 63, at approximately 2:55 p.m. The Callaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where initial findings later indicated the incident involved an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
