A fundraising campaign has been launched to support the family of 5-year-old Amada Mia Brown, who died after being swept into the ocean by powerful surf off the coast of Laguna Beach earlier this week.
The online fundraiser, titled “In Loving Memory of Amada Mia Brown,” was created to help the family cover funeral expenses and other costs as they cope with the devastating loss of their young daughter. Organizers describe Amada as a cherished child whose life was tragically cut short and are asking the public to help ease the financial burden facing her family during this difficult time.
According to Laguna Beach officials, Amada was swept into the water Tuesday evening along with her mother and brother near Treasure Island Beach. Witnesses were able to rescue the girl’s mother and sibling, but Amada disappeared beneath the heavy surf, triggering an extensive search involving multiple agencies.
Search crews spent days combing more than 90 square miles of ocean by air and sea in hopes of locating the missing child. On Thursday morning, authorities recovered Amada’s body approximately 250 to 300 yards offshore near Christmas Cove, located north of Treasure Island Beach.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Coroner Division later confirmed her identity and notified family members. Following the recovery, officials and first responders expressed their condolences to the grieving family.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the child’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Coast Guard officials said in a statement after search operations concluded.
Within hours of launching, the fundraiser raised more than $3,000 toward its $30,000 goal, reflecting an outpouring of support from community members and strangers moved by the tragedy.
Authorities continue to urge beachgoers to exercise caution around Southern California beaches as dangerous surf conditions persist due to a strong south swell, reminding visitors to enter the water only if they are experienced swimmers and aware of ocean hazards.
The loss of Amada Mia Brown has left family, friends, and the broader community mourning a young life gone far too soon.
