Family, friends, and members of the Chico community are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Carter Fuller, 13, who died following a tragic ATV crash along Skyway east of Nimshew Road near Paradise on Wednesday evening.
News of his passing has left loved ones in deep sorrow as they struggle to comprehend the sudden and devastating loss of someone so young. The tragic incident has sent waves of grief through the community, as many try to come to terms with the reality that a promising life was cut short far too soon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 5:56 p.m. on June 10. Investigators said Carter was riding a 2007 Yamaha Raptor 700 eastbound on Skyway when he lost control of the ATV. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled off the right shoulder, and struck a tree, ejecting the rider.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and provided medical aid at the scene before transporting him to Enloe Medical Center. Despite all lifesaving efforts, he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
Authorities confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and preliminary findings indicate that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the incident. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
