With profound sadness and heavy hearts, the Austin community is mourning the tragic loss of Michael Tyler Morton, 34, who was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash Thursday morning near Rockdale, Texas.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 6:11 a.m. on U.S. Highway 79 near Milam County Road 234. Troopers said Morton was operating a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound when he veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2013 Ford Taurus.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Morton was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The driver and passenger of the Ford Taurus were transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
As word of the tragedy spreads, family and friends are mourning deeply, struggling to cope with the sudden and devastating loss. The community is also mourning alongside them, remembering a life that ended far too soon.
Authorities say the crash remains under investigation, and no further details have been released.
