The Opelousas Police Department has released new details in connection with two separate shooting incidents that occurred near the St. Landry Parish Ag Arena on May 17, 2026, resulting in multiple felony charges and several arrest warrants.
According to investigators, the first shooting took place during the early morning hours near the arena. Detectives say the investigation determined that several individuals allegedly recklessly fired weapons in the area, creating a serious danger to the public and damaging multiple vehicles nearby.
Authorities have obtained arrest warrants for the following individuals:

Brandon Zeno, 27, of Lafayette, Louisiana
Jordan Bernard, 32, of Lafayette, Louisiana
Hakeem Gloston, 24, of Iowa, Louisiana
Shakeal Griffin, 30, of Lafayette, Louisiana
Police say the suspects are facing charges that include illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and aggravated criminal damage to property. Additionally, Zeno and Gloston are each charged with possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon.
Investigators stated that the suspects were identified through a combination of eyewitness accounts, surveillance footage, and tips provided by members of the community. Authorities thanked local residents and witnesses for assisting detectives throughout the investigation.
Police noted that investigators are still working to determine what initially led to the exchange of gunfire. Officials also warned that additional arrests and charges are expected as the investigation continues.
In a separate incident later that same day, at approximately 5:45 p.m., another shooting occurred near an event being held at the St. Landry Parish Ag Arena. Authorities say security personnel employed by St. Landry Parish Government immediately detained a suspect at the scene.
Police identified that suspect as Kameron J. Thomas, 18, of Lafayette, Louisiana, who has so far been charged with illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities. Investigators indicated that further arrests are anticipated in connection with that case as well.
