Authorities in New South Wales have charged a 27-year-old man as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged kidnapping and killing of 24-year-old Marvin Oraiha, a case police say is linked to organized criminal activity in Sydney.

According to investigators, Oraiha was allegedly abducted by members of a criminal network operating in Sydney’s western suburbs. Police allege he was held overnight inside a unit in Belfield, where he was reportedly assaulted and photographed with severe injuries while ransom demands were allegedly sent to his family and loved ones.

Taskforce Falcon detectives, who are leading investigations into organized criminal violence across New South Wales, announced the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect in connection with the alleged kidnapping. During the arrest, police reportedly seized more than $31,000 in cash along with additional items believed to be relevant to the investigation.

Authorities allege the case highlights the growing boldness of organized criminal groups involved in kidnappings, extortion, firearm violence, and intimidation tactics throughout parts of Australia.

Investigators continue working to determine the full scope of the alleged criminal network and whether additional suspects were involved in both the kidnapping and fatal shooting.

Police have not ruled out further arrests as Taskforce Falcon expands its investigation into organized gang-related violence across Sydney and surrounding areas.

Officials continue urging anyone with information connected to the case to contact Crime Stoppers or NSW Police.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
