Charlotte Woman Identified as Taylor Sylver After Fatal NoDa Shooting; Homicide Investigation Ongoing

A homicide investigation is underway after a 38-year-old woman was fatally shot early Thursday morning in Charlotte’s popular NoDa entertainment district, according to police.

The victim has been identified as Taylor Sylver.

Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded shortly after 2 a.m. to the 3200 block of North Davidson Street near East 35th Street following reports of gunfire in the area.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located Sylver suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported her to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, authorities say she later died at the hospital.

Around 5:30 a.m., CMPD officially classified the case as a homicide and launched an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Investigators have not yet announced any arrests or identified a suspect publicly. Police also have not released information regarding a possible motive or whether the victim may have known the shooter.

The deadly incident has raised concerns among residents and business owners in NoDa, one of Charlotte’s busiest nightlife and arts districts, as detectives continue collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information connected to the case to contact Crime Stoppers or the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department homicide unit.

The investigation remains ongoing.
