A 38-year-old Springville man was killed Thursday morning after his pickup truck left the roadway and crashed into a tree, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Authorities identified the victim as Chance Mitchell Lawrence Taylor.

Troopers said the crash happened at approximately 8:35 a.m. on St. Clair County 32 near Clayton Road, about five miles west of Springville. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Highway Patrol Division is leading the investigation.

According to Senior Trooper Gregory Corble, Taylor was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S10 when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Taylor was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to UAB St. Vincent’s East Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Officials confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Investigators remained at the scene Thursday morning to document evidence and examine the roadway as they work to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the highway.

Authorities have not yet released further details, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The fatal crash has left the Springville community grieving the sudden loss of Taylor, as family and friends await answers in the heartbreaking incident.
