According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began investigating a missing person report around 2 p.m. on May 26 after Dunn had not been seen or heard from since earlier that morning. Concern quickly grew among family members and authorities, prompting a coordinated search effort.

Investigators worked closely with Dunn’s family, using digital resources and information about her last known movements to help determine where she may have been traveling. Deputies then focused their search in areas she was believed to have passed through earlier in the day.

At approximately 2:50 p.m., law enforcement located Dunn and her vehicle in a deep ravine in the St. Johns area of McCracken County, off Old U.S. Highway 45. The discovery marked a heartbreaking end to the search effort that had been underway for several hours.

Preliminary findings from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office indicate that Dunn was involved in a single-vehicle collision. Authorities believe her vehicle left the roadway and overturned into the ravine under circumstances still being investigated.

McCracken County Coroner Amanda Melton responded to the scene and pronounced Dunn deceased.
