Two people were killed Tuesday night following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 near Dodge City, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
Officials said the crash occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. on May 26 when a 2012 Cadillac SRX was traveling on Interstate 65 in Cullman County. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway, struck a cable barrier, and overturned.
The driver, 35-year-old Kristen B. Rogers of Florence, was killed in the crash. A passenger, 41-year-old Danny W. Robinson of Lexington, also sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to ALEA, neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Investigators confirmed both were ejected during the rollover.
The crash occurred near the Alabama 69 exit, approximately two miles southeast of Dodge City. Emergency responders arrived on scene and provided aid, but both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
State troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division responded to the crash, closing portions of Interstate 65 for several hours while they worked to document the scene and clear debris. The roadway has since reopened.
At this time, investigators have not determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. No other vehicles were involved, and no charges have been filed. The investigation remains ongoing.
