Authorities have identified the victims in a deadly triple stabbing that left two men and one woman dead early Thursday morning in the city’s Normandy Estates neighborhood.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched at approximately 3:50 a.m. to the 1300 block of Exodus Way after receiving a report of a person who had been stabbed. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a man suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
While continuing to search the area, officers discovered two additional victims nearby—a second man and a woman—both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The scene was quickly secured as investigators worked to determine what led to the violent incident.
Police believe the attack stemmed from a domestic-related altercation inside a home on Exodus Way. However, officials emphasized that the full circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation.
Authorities have identified the victims as 49-year-old Edwin Barber, 27-year-old Savannah Barber, and 37-year-old Shad Cole. Family members have been notified as detectives continue working to piece together the timeline of events leading up to the deadly confrontation.
Investigators said the incident began after an argument escalated at the residence, ultimately turning fatal. Detectives spent hours processing the scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing potential witnesses in an effort to determine exactly what happened in the early morning hours.
Police also confirmed that a 30-year-old man, identified as Austin Fisher, has been arrested and is facing three counts of second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing deaths. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Officials with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said there is no ongoing threat to the public related to the case. However, they continue to encourage anyone with additional information to come forward as they work to build a clearer picture of the events that led to the tragedy.
The Jacksonville community remains shaken as authorities continue their investigation into one of the city’s most violent incidents in recent weeks. Further updates are expected as the case develops.
