Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon near Rosedale High School, according to a press release from the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department.
At approximately 2:08 p.m. on June 11, 2026, the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Office and the Rosedale Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at Rosedale High School in Rosedale, Mississippi.
When officers arrived, they located a light blue Chevrolet Tahoe in a wooded area behind Rosedale Elementary School with two occupants inside.
One of the occupants, identified as Miltorious Britton, 31, of Rosedale, had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second occupant was not injured during the incident.
Investigators said the shooting is believed to have taken place in the parking lot of Rosedale High School before the vehicle was later discovered in the wooded area behind Rosedale Elementary School.
Authorities confirmed that the case remains under active investigation as detectives work to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
Law enforcement officials are also seeking Timothy Hall, 37, of Gunnison, Mississippi, in connection with the incident.
