WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Sedgwick County judge ruled Friday that there is probable cause for a man to stand trial in the fatal October shooting of a passenger aboard a Wichita Transit bus.
Travis Finney faces charges of premeditated first-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
He waived his preliminary hearing on Friday.
Finney is accused in the Oct. 16 death of 54-year-old Reginald Griffith. The shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. on a city bus near Burton Street and Meridian Avenue.
According to an affidavit released in May, the bus driver pulled over after hearing a loud bang. A passenger then alerted the driver that someone had been shot.
The affidavit says Finney said he had known Griffith since he was a teenager.

After his arrest, investigators said Finney told them he heard voices and “felt an energy.” He also said he had not taken his medication to treat his schizophrenia, according to the affidavit.
He underwent a competency evaluation and was found competent to stand trial in January, according to court records.
Finney is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Aug. 27.
