RICHMOND, Va. — One man was killed and another person was injured in a double shooting on Richmond’s Southside early Saturday morning, according to police and Crime Insider sources.
Richmond Police responded to the 800 block of Semmes Avenue in the Manchester neighborhood at approximately 2:45 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and discovered evidence of gunfire and two victims.
One of the victims suffered injuries serious enough to be fatal and was pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity, pending notification of family members.
A second victim was also involved in the shooting. Police had not immediately released information about that person’s condition as the investigation continued.
Detectives are now working to determine what led to the shooting and whether the victims were specifically targeted. Investigators had not released a suspect description, possible motive or information about an arrest in the initial report.
The shooting occurred in the Manchester area of Richmond, where investigators are expected to examine evidence from the scene and speak with potential witnesses as they reconstruct what happened.
