Short North Shooting: One Person Killed in Early-Morning Columbus Gunfire
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the Short North after one person was killed during an early Sunday morning incident.
Officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday. When police arrived, they located a person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, the victim was later pronounced dead, according to preliminary reports.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been publicly released as authorities work to notify family members.
The shooting prompted a significant law-enforcement response in the Short North, with officers securing the area while investigators began collecting evidence and speaking with potential witnesses.
