Man shot Saturday on Devon Lane in Harrisonburg
A man was shot Saturday night in the 1200 block of Devon Lane in Harrisonburg, according to the Harrisonburg Police Department.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Shortly after the 911 call was received at around 10:38 p.m., officers arriving at the scene found a man in the parking lot of The Harrison apartment complex with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The patient was transported to Sentara RMH for treatment.
Students in neighboring apartments reported hearing a single shot around the time of the 911 call, but many thought that it was fireworks until they saw emergency personnel arriving in large numbers.
Harrisonburg police believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no continued threat to the public, although the shooting remains under active investigation. Police at the scene were unable to comment on whether the shooter had been found yet.
Traffic was closed off along Devon Lane for approximately two hours, delaying many students as they tried to return to their apartments Saturday night.
A shelter-in-place that was issued to JMU students through the JMU Shield app was lifted around midnight, although the parking lot where the shooting occurred remained closed off as police continued to investigate the scene.
