Justin Milliken Jacksonville, Florida Suicide – Obituary: St. Johns Community Mourns the Death of Grumpy’s Restaurant Co-Owner Justin Milliken
The St. Johns community is mourning the sudden death of Justin Milliken, a father and co-owner of Grumpy’s Restaurant, who was found deceased Wednesday morning at the restaurant on County Road 210.
Deputies with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office responded to Grumpy’s Restaurant at 155 Fountains Way, where Milliken was found dead. According to the Sheriff’s Office, there was no indication of foul play. Authorities are handling the circumstances surrounding his death.
The loss has deeply affected the Grumpy’s Restaurant family and the wider St. Johns community. Restaurant Company President and CEO Daniel DeLeon expressed the company’s sadness over Milliken’s passing and extended thoughts to his family, Leah, the St. Johns team, and everyone affected by the loss.
The restaurant remained closed Wednesday following the tragedy and was expected to reopen Thursday during its normal business hours.
Justin and his wife, Leah, brought Grumpy’s to St. Johns County after becoming franchisees in 2020. They opened the location at The Fountains at St. Johns in August 2021, helping establish the restaurant as a popular neighborhood destination for Southern-style breakfast and lunch.
The St. Johns location represented the Jacksonville-area chain’s third restaurant and was expected to create more than 40 jobs, further establishing the business as part of the local community.
For those who knew Justin and the many people connected to Grumpy’s, his sudden passing represents a profound loss. As family, friends, coworkers, and community members grieve, they are left to remember the life he shared with those around him and the lasting place he helped build in St. Johns County.
Our deepest condolences go to Justin Milliken’s family, Leah, his friends, coworkers, and everyone mourning his loss.
May Justin Milliken rest in peace.
