UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A single-vehicle collision in Tuscarawas County has claimed the life of 64-year-old Jeffrey R. Cottrell of Dennison, Ohio. As reported by regional east-central Ohio news outlets, including the Times-Reporter, the fatal crash occurred on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2026, along Midvale Mine Road in Union Township.
Midvale Mine Road Collision Details
According to preliminary investigation summaries released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), crash reconstruction troopers responded around 7:39 p.m. to County Road 67 (Midvale Mine Road) near Canary Road. Investigators determined that Mr. Cottrell was operating a 2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling southwest when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway, striking a post and a tree.
Emergency medical personnel from Smith Ambulance, Sherrodsville Fire Department, and the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Mr. Cottrell sustained fatal injuries in the impact and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.
