Morgan Connors Remembered: 12-Year-Old Bensalem Girl Killed in 2022 Shooting
BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania — Morgan Connors was only 12 years old when she went to a friend’s home on what was expected to be an ordinary afternoon. Instead, the visit ended in tragedy, leaving her family to cope with a devastating loss that continues to be remembered years later.
On November 25, 2022, Morgan was at a trailer in the Top of the Ridge Trailer Park in Bensalem Township, where she was with 16-year-old Ash Cooper, whom authorities said she knew.
At some point during the afternoon, Cooper gained access to a firearm that had been secured inside the residence. Morgan was subsequently fatally shot.
How Police Learned About the Killing
The circumstances surrounding Morgan’s death began to emerge after Cooper contacted an acquaintance through an Instagram video call.
According to prosecutors, Cooper told the acquaintance that someone had been killed and asked for assistance with cleaning up and disposing of the body.
Rather than becoming involved, the acquaintance alerted an adult, who then contacted authorities.
Police responded to the trailer and discovered Morgan’s body inside the residence.
Cooper was subsequently taken into custody nearby, bringing investigators to the beginning of a case that would eventually result in a murder conviction.
Motive Remained Unclear
One of the most difficult questions surrounding the case was why Morgan was killed.
Prosecutors said Cooper never provided a clear explanation for the shooting. The absence of an established motive left Morgan’s family facing not only the loss of a child but also unanswered questions about what happened during the final moments of her life.
Authorities focused their investigation on reconstructing the events inside the trailer and determining how Cooper obtained access to the firearm.
Guilty Plea
The case eventually went before the courts.
In March 2024, Cooper pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, possession of an instrument of crime and tampering with evidence.
Rather than proceeding to a full trial, the guilty plea established Cooper’s criminal responsibility for the offenses and brought the case to a sentencing phase.
The court sentenced Cooper to 15 to 40 years in state prison, followed by seven years of probation.
The sentence brought a legal resolution to the case, although it could not undo the loss suffered by Morgan’s family.
Family Left to Grieve
During sentencing, Morgan’s grandfather spoke about the devastating impact of losing his granddaughter.
For the family, Morgan’s death represented the loss of a young life filled with possibilities. At just 12 years old, she had her entire future ahead of her.
Instead of watching her grow older, her loved ones were forced to confront a painful reality: Morgan would never have the opportunity to experience the milestones that should have awaited her.
Her death also left a lasting impact on those who knew her and on a community confronted with the tragedy of a child dying violently.
Remembering Morgan
Morgan Connors’ story is ultimately about more than the circumstances of her death. It is also about remembering a 12-year-old girl whose life ended far too soon.
The criminal case established a legal outcome, but the emotional consequences of Morgan’s death continue for the people who loved her.
