Toledo Shooting: Terrance Scott, 37, Dies After Early-Morning Gunfire on Campbell Street
TOLEDO, Ohio — A 37-year-old man has died following an early-morning shooting in central Toledo, as police detectives work to determine what led to the fatal gunfire.
The victim has been identified as Terrance Scott, according to the Toledo Police Department.
Police responded to the 1100 block of Campbell Street shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, following a report of a person who had been shot. Officers arrived and found Scott suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Victim Transported to Hospital
Emergency responders provided assistance at the scene before Scott was transported to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment.
Despite efforts to save his life, Scott later died from his injuries, authorities said.
Additional reporting indicated that first responders were performing CPR as the victim was transported to the hospital. Several people were reportedly questioned as investigators began working to establish what happened inside or around the residence.
Police Investigating Fatal Shooting
Toledo police detectives have opened a homicide investigation and are working to reconstruct the events that preceded the shooting.
At this stage, authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or announced an arrest. Police have also not released a possible motive or said whether Scott knew the person responsible.
Investigators are expected to examine evidence from the scene and speak with witnesses and others who may have information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
