CHICAGO, Ill. — Chicago police are investigating a shooting in the Lower West Side that left a 15-year-old boy injured Sunday afternoon.
According to police, the teenager was sitting near a sidewalk in the 1900 block of West Cermak Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. when someone inside a nearby vehicle opened fire.
The boy was struck by gunfire and transported to Stroger Hospital for treatment. Authorities said he was listed in good condition, indicating that his injuries were not considered immediately life-threatening.
The shooting appears to have involved a vehicle that was in the area when the gunfire occurred. Detectives are working to determine who fired the shots and why the teenager was targeted.
