According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, officers responded around 10:30 a.m. to the Afton Oaks apartment complex after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency response efforts, both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the incident involved a domestic situation in which a man allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend before taking his own life. Authorities identified the female victim as 33-year-old Avery, also known online as “Arceneaux Ave.” News of her death quickly spread across social media, prompting an outpouring of grief, condolences, and tributes from loved ones and community members.

The identity of the male involved has not yet been publicly released. Officials have also not shared additional details regarding the events leading up to the shooting as detectives continue to gather evidence and piece together what happened.

For family and friends, the tragedy represents a devastating and deeply personal loss. Those who knew Avery are remembering her life, her relationships, and the impact she had on those around her, rather than the circumstances that ended her life so abruptly.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as they work to fully understand the sequence of events. In the meantime, the Baton Rouge community continues to grieve two lives lost in a heartbreaking incident that has left many searching for answers.
