Temple police have identified the young man found shot multiple times Wednesday morning in a residential neighborhood as Ember Henry, 18, of Salado. Authorities are investigating his death as a homicide.
Henry was discovered in the 1300 block of Paseo Del Oro after officers were called to the area for an urgent welfare check. He had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family friends confirmed that Henry was the son of former Salado mayor Bert Henry.
Temple police were initially called to the same block on Tuesday for reports of gunshots, but officers found no evidence of a crime and no one in need of assistance at that time.
The Temple Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the case. As of now, no suspect has been identified or detained, and authorities have not released details on a possible motive.
A vigil to honor Henry’s memory is scheduled for Friday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m. at the Locks of Love installation at Sirena Park in Salado. Friends, family, and members of the community are invited to attend and pay their respects as they mourn his loss.
