According to Alton Police Department Chief Mark Perez, officers were dispatched at approximately 9:13 p.m. Tuesday to a residence in the Tuscany Village Subdivision following reports of a disturbance. When officers arrived at the home, they discovered two individuals who had died at the scene, while a third victim was found critically injured.

Emergency medical personnel transported the surviving victim to a local hospital for treatment. However, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Wednesday morning that the victim later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the death toll to three.

On Wednesday afternoon, investigators identified the victims as Sweeta Ram, 56, Kamlesh Rani, 46, and Mindeer Kaur, 73. Authorities have not released information regarding whether the victims were related to one another or whether they had any relationship with the suspect involved in the shooting.

Police said the suspect fled the residence before officers arrived. Shortly afterward, law enforcement initiated a vehicle pursuit that ended when the suspect crashed near the intersection of 4 Mile Line Road and Glasscock Road. According to Chief Perez, officers took the suspect into custody without further incident.

Investigators confirmed that the shooting occurred at a residence located in the 3701 block of East Roosevelt Avenue. Throughout Wednesday, numerous law enforcement officers remained at the property as they processed the scene, gathered evidence, and continued interviewing potential witnesses.

Authorities were also seen canvassing the surrounding neighborhood, going door-to-door speaking with residents who may have seen or heard anything that could assist investigators. Near the intersection of 6 Mile Line Road and Glasscock Road, officers searched an area of tall grass as part of the ongoing investigation. Family members of the victims also arrived at the scene, where they spoke with investigators before departing.

Officials have emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The crime scene has been secured, and authorities say residents can feel confident that the situation has been contained.

At this time, investigators have not released a possible motive for the shooting, and the circumstances leading up to the incident remain under active investigation. Detectives continue collecting evidence and conducting interviews to establish a complete timeline of events.
