The Milwaukee community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Azariah Jones, 18, who was killed Thursday night in a tragic single-vehicle crash on the city’s north side.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of North 84th Street and West Hampton Avenue. Investigators said Jones was traveling southbound along the 4700 block of North 84th Street when the vehicle suddenly left the roadway and struck a tree.
Emergency crews responded quickly and found Jones suffering from severe injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel worked urgently in an effort to save his life. Despite those life-saving efforts, Jones later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether speed, impairment, road conditions, or other contributing factors may have played a role.
Jones’ death has left family and friends devastated, as another young life was taken far too soon. Those who knew him are now remembering him as a young man with his whole future ahead of him, a future that was tragically cut short in an instant.
As the investigation continues, loved ones are left to mourn and reflect on the painful reality of how quickly tragedy can unfold. Milwaukee police say the crash remains under active investigation.
